About The Fine Art Prints
Seung Kye Lee uses mostly full-format (35mm) DSLR camera and good quality lenses to achieve high image quality from the very start.
Seung Kye strives to capture the images as much as possible in-camera and keep post-processing modest, but adequate, to render the natural light in it`s most magical moments. Digital image processing software is used to enhance the photographs (white balance, contrast, sensor dust removal, sharpening) so that they translate well to large prints and at the same time keep the natural appearance intact as seen on location. To control the light and colors at the time of shooting and to help him express his personal style, professional equipment from Lee, Singh-Ray and Hoya (graduated neutral density filters and polarizers) are used. These filters let him capture the magic light that he constantly seeks in nature.
Post-processing:
Each image goes through a process consisting first of RAW-image conversion on calibrated monitors. That means adjusting exposure, custom white balance and curves/levels for giving the image suitable brightness, contrast and color. Then the RAW-image is converted to a 16-bit TIFF-file to be fine-adjusted with curves/levels, dodge/burn and sharpening. Seung Kye Lee does not use HDR technology, but in extreme lighting conditions can make use of blending two versions of the same RAW-file to balance the light. Nothing is digitally added or removed from the original capture.
